Abstract: Introduction: Cervical cancer, also known as cervical cancer, is a disease that develops in the lower region of the uterus, where it connects to the vagina. This type of cancer is one of the most common among women, especially in developing countries. The main cause of cervical cancer is persistent infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted virus. Early detection of cervical cancer is essential for successful treatment. Pap smears (or cervical cytology) and HPV testing are effective methods for identifying cellular changes before they become cancerous. Furthermore, vaccination against HPV has been shown to be an effective preventive measure, significantly reducing the incidence of HPV infections and, consequently, cervical cancer. Understanding risk factors, promoting screening programs and expanding access to vaccination are crucial strategies for preventing and controlling cervical cancer. Objectives: Review the scientific literature on cervical cancer and the impacts of vaccination against HPV. Methodology: a systematic bibliographical research was carried out based on the analysis of the content of articles from scientific journals, carried out on Health Research platforms, selecting the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) databases. , Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). After adopting the inclusion criteria (Portuguese and English language publication in the last ten years) and exclusion (repeated articles), 06 articles were selected. Results: It was evident that vaccination against HPV offers numerous benefits, especially in the prevention of cervical cancer. Although vaccination does not directly treat cancer, it plays a crucial role in reducing the incidence of the disease, which positively impacts public health. Furthermore, it reduces the incidence of pre-cancerous lesions, reducing the need for invasive procedures, as well as reducing public spending, improving women's quality of life. Conclusion: In summary, vaccination against HPV is an essential preventive tool that, by reducing the incidence of HPV infections, significantly reduces the prevalence of cervical cancer and its complications, promoting a general improvement in women's health and saving resources in public health.
