CALDAS NOVAS-GO: TRADIÇÃO E IDENTIDADE NA TRANSIÇÃO DO USO DAS ÁGUAS TERMAIS PARA CURA E SUA APROPRIAÇÃO PELOS EMPREENDIMENTOS TURÍSTICOS PARA O LAZER E ENTRETENIMENTO
O presente artigo tem como objetivo fazer uma contextualização histórica da cidade de Caldas Novas-GO mostrando que, historicamente sempre teve sua origem e identidade por praticamente dois séculos associada à cura e saúde potencializada pelo uso das águas termais para fins terapêuticos e não de lazer e entretenimento como na atualidade. Embora tivesse toda uma vocação para o desenvolvimento de um turismo relacionado à saúde, este foi explorado de forma muito restrita e o turismo que começou a se desenvolver nos fins da década de 1960 voltou-se, exclusivamente, para o lazer e entretenimento com a disseminação de hotéis e clubes com piscinas termais, resorts e realização de grandes eventos como o Carnaval e shows sertanejos como Caldas Country e o Verão Sertanejo. A partir da exploração turística de lazer e entretenimento, a cidade de Caldas Novas tem sofrido grandes transformações e impactos culturais e socioambientais de grandes proporções e a identificação relacionados à cura e ao valor terapêutico das águas termais, que deu origem à cidade, relegados a um passado que os caldas-novenses não fazem muito questão de lembrar.

Abstract:
This article aims to make a historical contextualization of the city of Caldas Novas-GO showing that, historically it has always had its origin and identity for almost two centuries associated with healing and health enhanced by the use of thermal waters for therapeutic purposes and not for leisure and entertainment as it is today. Although it had a whole vocation for the development of tourism related to health, it was explored in a very restricted way and the tourism that began to develop in the late 1960s turned exclusively to leisure and entertainment with the dissemination hotels and clubs with thermal pools, resorts and holding large events like Carnival and country shows like Caldas Country and Verão Sertanejo. From the tourist exploration of leisure and entertainment, the city of Caldas Novas has undergone major transformations and cultural and socio-environmental impacts of great proportions and the identification related to the healing and therapeutic value of the thermal waters, which gave rise to the city, relegated to a past that the caldas-novenses don't make much point of remembering.
