BRASIL: A DICOTOMIA ENTRE A RIQUEZA E O DESENVOLVIMENTO
A riqueza dos países geralmente é medida pelo Produto Interno Bruto (PIB). Porém a riqueza de um país não significa que necessariamente o país é desenvolvido. Apesar do PIB ser uma medida muito importante e bastante utilizada, ela não é a mais adequada para medir o desenvolvimento de uma nação. Medidas com o Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano (IDH) do Programa das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento (PNUD) têm sido utilizadas para poder medir melhor o desenvolvimento. O desenvolvimento de um país, além da riqueza gerada por esse país deve estar atrelado ao bem-estar da população. Este trabalho visa explanar essas medidas e mostrar a dicotomia existente entre a riqueza e o desenvolvimento humano do Brasil, com o intuito de estimular o debate sobre esta temática para que políticas públicas possam ser mais direcionadas para o real desenvolvimento brasileiro.

Abstract:
The wealth of countries is generally measured by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). But the wealth of a country does not necessarily mean that the country is developed. Although GDP is a very important and widely used measure, it is not the most adequate to measure a nation's development. Measures with the Human Development Index (HDI) of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have been used to better measure development. The development of a country, in addition to the wealth generated by that country, must be linked to the well-being of the population. This work aims to explain these measures and show the existing dichotomy between wealth and human development in Brazil, in order to stimulate debate on this theme so that public policies can be more directed towards real Brazilian development.The wealth of countries is generally measured by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
