Abstract: Introduction: Good obstetric practices during the birth period are closely related to the process of humanizing obstetric care. Thus, the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) attest to respect for the rights of pregnant women and their families and the provision of information relevant to the pregnancy- puerperal process. The following fundamental points are part of the actions that encompass the humanizing line of obstetric care: encouraging the use of non-invasive and non-pharmacological methods for pain relief, freedom of position, empathetic support from health professionals, early skin-to-skin contact, support breastfeeding during the first hour, among others. Objective: to analyze what has been described in the scientific literature about the role of nursing professionals in complying with WHO good obstetric practices, in category A. Method: Integrative literature review carried out in accordance with methodological steps in evidence-based practice (PBL) proposed in the literature and recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), with an initial milestone associated with the Preschool Humanization Program -birth and birth (PHPN), in the year 2002 (BRASIL, 2000), available online in full in the databases, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Search carried out, from August to September 2023, in the databases: Nursing Database (BDENF); Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS); National Library of Medicine (PubMed/MEDLINE); and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and Web of Science via the CAPES Periodicals Portal through access to the Federated Academic Community (CAFe). Results: The final sample was made up of 20 articles, which responded to the objective of the study. The scientific publication was distributed over the period from 2023 to 2007. The studies were carried out in the Brazilian national territory, distributed as follows: 50% in the northeast region; 25% in the southeast region; 20% in the south region and 5% in the central- west region. From the critical and detailed analysis of the articles, the following categories emerged: Category A - Demystification of the role of childbirth in the role of the health team; and Category B - Good obstetric practices: the role of the nursing team in encouraging humanizing practices in childbirth care. Final considerations: Good obstetric practices in childbirth care must be incorporated daily into care, due to the importance of the results brought to the mother-child binomial. Furthermore, for the woman to become the protagonist of the process, professionals must be able to provide information and make resources available that contribute directly and indirectly to the success of the birth. It is important, therefore, that the team has the knowledge and qualifications to make this happen.
