Abstract: Abstract: The promotion of extension in partnership with public schools adds great value to the training of basic education students and university students. Blood typing is a simple and widely accepted practical activity due to its fast and reliable results in the determination of blood groups in humans. Objectives: To promote a university extension action with basic education students, using the practice of blood typing. Methodology: Anti-A, Anti-B and Anti-D blood typing were used to assess the presence or absence of agglutination and determine the blood type (A, B, AB or O) and the Rh factor (positive or negative ) of students from the 6th to the 9th grade of a public school in Formiga-MG. Results: The proposal to identify the blood type was very enthusiastic for most of the students attended, as many had no knowledge about this subject. Clarifications were provided on the importance of blood donation and self-knowledge of blood type for situations such as surgeries, transfusions and maternal-fetal incompatibility. The students interacted with different questions and with the exposure of problem situations related to the theme worked on. Conclusion: University extension makes it possible to bring the community closer to scientific knowledge. Working on practical activities with basic education students arouses interest in the contents of work in the classroom and raises scientific curiosity, also favoring the academic training of the students involved, contributing to the formation of more critical, reflective and responsible professionals.
