Abstract: The aim of this study was to review the literature on the biocompatibility of orthodontic aligners. For this purpose, articles published between 2014 and 2024 were searched in the Medline/Pubmed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library (CENTRAL) and Scopus databases. The keywords “bisphenol-A” and “aligners” were used as descriptors. Fifteen articles that investigated the biocompatibility of orthodontic aligners were selected. It can be concluded that the results of this literature review indicate the absence of estrogenic or cytotoxic effects of orthodontic aligners. These results should be evaluated with caution, considering that most of the available evidence comes from in vitro studies.
