A beleza humana sempre foi
cultuada e a busca pelo embelezamento e pela
preservação da juventude, do desejo de parar o
tempo, vencer o envelhecimento e retardar o fim
é ainda tão ativa que leva à busca profissional
por novos tratamentos e aprimoramento de
técnicas a fim de satisfazer esses desejos.
A lipoplastia facial, também conhecida como
bichectomia, não é um procedimento novo,
porém tem se tornado a nova “febre” da
Odontologia estética atual. Corresponde a
uma cirurgia estéticofuncional da face, também
considerada como plástica facial, que visa
reduzir o tamanho das bochechas através da
remoção da bola gordurosa de Bichat. A cirurgia
é considerada um procedimento relativamente
simples, que pode ser realizado sob anestesia
local. Através da incisão intraoral, remove-se
as bolas gordurosas, permitindo aspecto mais
afinado da face e ressaltando os ângulos da
região de ramo da mandíbula e acentuando a
região dos zigomáticos. O presente trabalho
tem como objetivo realizar uma breve revisão
de literatura acerca da bichectomia, discutindo
a técnica cirúrgica, bem como suas indicações
e contraindicações.

Abstract:
Human beauty has always been worshiped and the search for the
beautification and preservation of youth, the desire to stop time, overcome aging and
delay the end is still so active that it leads to the cientific search for new treatments
and improvement of techniques in order to satisfy such desires. Facial lipoplasty, also
known as bichectomy, is not a new procedure, but has become the new “fever” of
current esthetic dentistry. It refers to an esthetic facial surgery, a form of plastic surgery,
which aims to reduce the size of the cheeks by removing the buccal fat pads, known
as Bichat balls. Said surgery is considered a relatively simple procedure, which can
be performed under local anesthesia. Through the intraoral incision, the buccal fat
pads are removed, allowing for a more defined appearance of the face, emphasizing
the outline of the ramus portion of the mandible and accentuating the region of the
zygomatic bone. The current work has the objective of carrying out a brief review of
literature surrounding bichectomy, discussing the surgical technique, as well as its
indications and contraindications.
