Abstract: The article highlights the computerization process of the Professor José Nórcia Filho Library at Colégio João XXIII in São Paulo. The objective was to improve services, update techniques, optimize materials management and improve accessibility. The library, opened in 1983 and reopened in 2019, is a crucial resource for teaching. The lack of adequate computerization made access to the collection difficult, leading to the need for computerization to better contribute to teaching and learning. Computerization offers efficient access, productivity, affordability, advanced research and cost reduction. The main focus is cataloging the collection as a vital service for organization and location. Cataloging books is complex, requiring rigorous processes carried out by librarians. The school library is crucial, linking curriculum and classroom, promoting reading and information. It is based on space, collection and services. Classification is essential as it facilitates efficient searching. The library adopted Pergamum Software for computerization, improving collection management and services. The software manages loans, reserves, inventory and other tasks. The strategic choice benefited the library, saving time and resources. The introduction of computerization played a significant role in improving the institution's services, highlighting the fundamental relevance of Management's support and encouragement for the full success of the school library automation process.
