BEING PARENTS OF TEENAGE CHILDREN IN THE CITY. INTERCULTURAL MEDIATION AS “EDUCATIONAL STYLE” OF INCLUSION AND CITIZENSHIP
A partir de um projecto de investigação centrado em pais de "segunda geração", a presente contribuição pretende explorar o conceito de mediação intercultural tomando a perspectiva de pais imigrantes com filhos adolescentes.
Especificamente, a atenção pedagógica tem sido colocada nas “estratégias de mediação intercultural” (operadas pelos pais de origem não italiana com filhos adolescentes) e nas os processos de interação e participação entre pais (tanto nativos quanto não nativos).
A intenção é que esses "pontos" possam indicar caminhos possíveis, tanto de reflexão quanto de ação, úteis para promover processos reais de inclusão humana, integração mútua e cidadania, contando com os pais (indígenas e não) que vivem na cidade.

Abstract:
Starting from a research project centred on "second generation" parents, the present contribution intends to explore the intercultural mediation concept taking the perspective of immigrant parents with teenage children. Specifically, the pedagogical attention was drawn to the "educational strategies of intercultural mediation" (enacted by parents of non-Italian origin with adolescent children) and to the processes of interaction and participation between parents (both native and non-native). It is claimed that such "points" can indicate possible paths, both of reflection and action, useful to promote real processes of human inclusion, of mutual integration and of citizenship, levering parents (autochthonous et non) that live in the city.
