Abstract: Leukemia is a malignant disease that affects white blood cells, causing an abnormal production of atypical blast cells in the bone marrow, which take the place of normal blood cells, thus impairing the production of red blood cells and platelets. The main leukemias are classified into myeloid and lymphoid, presenting in acute and chronic forms. This research aims to describe information about advances in leukemia treatments in light of new perspectives for cure and quality of life for patients. Its methodology is a literature review based on articles in the Lilacs, Scielo and Pubmed databases that address studies related to onco-hematology specifically in Leukemias and their treatments. According to the studies carried out, imatinib target therapy has stood out with great efficacy in the treatment of leukemias used as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that works by blocking the activity of specific proteins, in addition to others also developed such as desartinib and nilotinib. In view of the above, it can be concluded that therapeutic advances have provided patients with great chances of cure and a better quality of life.
