Abstract: The most important focus will be on radioactive waste, based on data collection, carrying out an in-person case study, for research at the installation of the nuclear medicine sector at the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital (HUCFF), where information was collected from the examination site, in an attempt to understand the logistics and destination of the waste in this institution, with the importance of training for employees who have contact with the waste removed from practices at the end of the procedures being relevant, to assess the technical context in the preparation of the flow of waste from the radioactive materials used. The proposal for the subject of ionizing radiation is also the theme of this article, since without these subjects, it would not be possible to fit into complex topics such as radioactivity, half-lives, and the functioning of radiation detector devices in the search for identifying the source, taking into account that in the course of this information, it is necessary to understand how radiation detectors work, so that these measurements provide a great contribution not only to nuclear medicine, but also to radiological protection in the performance of any area with regard to exposure to various radioactive elements. I also need to establish subjects such as radionuclides, used for examination procedures, where one of the mechanisms for this production in some of the elements produced is the cyclotron device, also mentioning important Brazilian and international institutions for this subject such as the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN) and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) for nuclear medicine facilities.
