AVALIAÇÃO DOS PARÂMETROS VITAIS DE Bradypus variegatus EM REABILITAÇÃO NO ESTADO DE PERNAMBUCO
O crescimento dos impactos antrópicos em ambientes naturais têm sido um dos responsáveis por um maior recebimento de animais silvestres em centros de triagem e reabilitação. A preguiça de garganta marrom (Bradypus variegatus), mesmo não sendo uma espécie ameaçada de extinção, é um mamífero também acometido por tais impactos. A ausência de informações médico-veterinárias básicas sobre animais silvestres, como a média de parâmetros vitais, dificulta significativamente o manejo clínico, o diagnóstico e o tratamento de animais recebidos por diversas instituições. O estudo de parâmetros vitais também é dificultado por fatores de manejo e contenção estressantes durante a avaliação. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo o estudo de seis indivíduos da espécie Bradypus variegatus mantidos em semicativeiro e atestados como sadios, registrando os parâmetros de Frequência Cardíaca (FC) por auscultação com estetoscópio e Frequência Respiratória (FR) por observação de movimentos respiratórios, ambos os parâmetros através de manejo não estressante, relacionando-os aos diferentes comportamentos dos animais. Os resultados obtidos indicam uma média de FC e FR maior durante a tarde (das 13:00h às 17:00h) em comparação às observações da manhã (das 08:00h às 12:00h), e os comportamentos com maiores valores observados foram em atividade ou alimentação. As observações podem ser associadas com a influência do ritmo circadiano sobre o metabolismo e nível de atividade dos animais. A avaliação de parâmetros vitais respeitando o comportamento dos animais e conhecendo seu metabolismo normal mostra-se viável e necessária para obtenção de resultados fidedignos aplicáveis à rotina com animais silvestres.

Abstract:
The growing number of antropic impacts in natural environments has been one of the responsibles for a great amount of wild animals received by wildlife centers of rehabilitation. The brown-throated sloth (Bradypus variegatus), even as a species with no immediate risk of extinction, is a mammal affected by those impacts. The lack of basic medical veterinary information about wild animals, as the average range of vital parameters, makes it harder to execute proper clinical handling, diagnosis and treatment of animals received by several institutes The study of vital parameters is also difficult because of stress caused by containment and handling during evaluation. This work aims to study six individuals of the species Bradypus variegatus kept in semi-captivity and declared healthy, registering their parameters of Heart Rate (HR) by auscultation with stethoscope and Respiratory Rate (RR) by observing the respiratory movements, both parameters with minimal-stress handling, relating them to the different behaviours expressed by the animals. The results obtained indicate that the average values for both HR and RR were higher during the afternoon (13:00-17:00h) when compared to results obtained during mornings (08:00-12:00h), and the behaviours with higher values were “feeding” and “during activity”. Those observations can be associated with the influence of the circadian rhythm over the metabolism and level of activity of those animals. The evaluation of vital parameters respecting the behaviour of the species and knowing their metabolism presents itself as viable and necessary to obtain trustworthy results applicable to the wildlife medical routine.
