Abstract: The level of sound intensity was analyzed in 4 bodybuilding gyms at Jaú city to verify if the noise level is a potential health risk factor for physical education professionals. Bodybuilding training rooms were compared to regular fitness rooms; also, the comparison considered moments with more and less people and different positions in the room. The calibrated k820 Digital Sound Level Meter by Akso was used. For comparison purposes the NBR 10152:2017 Corrected Version: 2020 and the NR 15 were used. The noise level varied from 61.7 dB (A) to 103.8 dB (A); above the established noise level defined by the NBR 10152, thus, above the acoustic discomfort threshold. In addition, in environments with noise levels near 103.8 dB (A) the time spent in the room was 35 minutes, while in environments with low noise levels, such as 85 dB (A), the time spent in the room was 8 hours. No statistical difference was observed between bodybuilding training rooms and regular fitness rooms. However, a higher noise level was observed in moments with more people in the room and near to the sound-box.
