AVALIAÇÃO DOS MÉTODOS DE PROJEÇÃO POPULACIONAL PARA ELABORAÇÃO DE PROJETOS DE SANEAMENTO BÁSICO EM BELÉM DO PARÁ
Projeções populacionais realizadas
adequadamente, nos projetos de engenharia,
possibilitam maior eficiência na distribuição
dos serviços oferecidos. Por outro lado, uma
projeção consideravelmente abaixo ou acima
do que representará a realidade pode gerar,
por exemplo, deficiências no atendimento
dos usuários e encarecimento do projeto para
uma determinada região. Nesse sentido, o
presente trabalho tem por objetivo demonstrar a
importância da adequada projeção populacional,
bem como discutir sobre a precisão dos
métodos de projeção utilizados na elaboração
de projetos de saneamento básico no município
de Belém do Pará. Os métodos de projeção
adotados foram o Método Aritmético, Método
Geométrico e Método Logístico. O estudo foi
realizado em quatro etapas. A primeira etapa
consistiu na pesquisa bibliográfica à cerca das
metodologias utilizadas, a segunda consistiu
na coleta de dados populacionais referentes ao
município de Belém, a terceira na aplicação dos
métodos de projeção e a quarta etapa consistiu
na comparação do resultados obtidos com as
estimativas do Plano de Saneamento Básico
do Município de Belém (PSBMB), tendo-se
como base os censos do Instituto Brasileiro
de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE). Com base
nos resultados obtidos, pôde-se concluir sobre
a precisão dos métodos utilizados, quando
comparados com os dados das projeções feitas
para o PSBMB. Também foi possível concluir
sobre quais as vantagens e desvantagens de
cada método.

Abstract:
Population projections adequately
performed, in engineering projects, enable
greater efficiency in the distribution of the
services offered. On the other hand, a projection
considerably below or above what will represent
the reality can generate, for exemple, disabilities
in the attendance of the users and the enhancement of the project for a particular
region. In this sense, the present work aims to demonstrate the importance of the
adequate population projection, as well as to discuss the precision of the methods of
projection in the preparation of basic sanitation projects in the city of Belém of Pará. The
methods of projection adopted were the Arithmetical Method, the Geometric Method
and the Logistic Method. The study was carried out in four stages. The first step was
the bibliographic research about the methodologies used, the second step was the
collection of population data references to the municipality of Belém, the third was the
application of the methods of projection and the fourth step was the comparison of the
results obtained with the Basic Sanitation Plan of the municipality of Belém (PSBMB),
that used the census of Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Based
on the results obtained, it was possible to conclude about the accuracy of the methods
used, when compared with the data of the projections made for the PSBMB. It was also
possible to conclude about the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
