Abstract: This study analyzed indicators of the rational use of blood components in a hospital blood bank from a pharmaceutical management perspective, considering the importance of transfusion safety and the efficient use of blood products. Indicators such as transfusion appropriateness, completeness of requests, return rate, and utilization index were evaluated based on data from recent scientific literature and compared with national and international standards. It was observed that the average transfusion appropriateness remains below ideal parameters, reflecting weaknesses in care processes and adherence to clinical protocols. The analysis showed that pharmaceutical practice directly contributes to the improvement of these indicators, especially in the validation of requests and the systematic monitoring of the transfusion process. Significant flaws were identified in the standardization of requests and inventory management, impacting operational efficiency and patient safety. The data demonstrated that continuous monitoring of indicators allows for the identification of deviations and the implementation of corrective actions. It is concluded that pharmaceutical management is essential for promoting the rational use of blood components, reducing waste, and improving the quality of care in blood therapy services.
