AVALIAÇÃO DOS IMPACTOS AMBIENTAIS DA EXPANSÃO URBANA NO IGARAPÉ SANTA BÁRBARA EM IGARAPÉ-MIRI/PARÁ
Com o crescimento desordenado
das cidades a pressão sobre os recursos
hídricos tornam-se inevitáveis, principalmente
de igarapés que tem seu leito dentro da zona
urbana. E como consequência do desmatamento
e construção de palafitas ocorre alterações
ambientais serias algumas irreversíveis. O
objetivo deste estudo é fazer uma análise
da relação entre as atividades antrópicas e
a degradação ambiental do igarapé Santa
Barbara localizado no município de Igarapé-
Miri/PA. Levados pela preocupação e interesse
em compreender as questões ambientais
mais profundamente, bem como, com a
visível degradação pela qual vem passando
o Igarapé Santa Bárbara optou-se em utilizar
a abordagem qualiquantitativa, objetivando
captar as percepções dos moradores sobre
as problemáticas ambientais mais urgentes,
utilizando-se como instrumento a aplicação
de questionário, entrevistas e observações.
A forma desordenada como foi realizada a
ocupação da área ao entorno do igarapé tem
grande relevância na compreensão da questão
discutida por este trabalho. No entanto,
evidencia-se que, para além da forma de
ocupação, há também, a total ausência do poder
público na ordenação e gestão de questões
urbanísticas. Isso possibilitou de forma ainda
mais acentuada, a poluição do componente
hídrico e degradação das margens do igarapé
objeto de estudo, resultando em significativa
queda na qualidade de vida da população local
além de uma perda, provavelmente, irreparável
do ecossistema. Constatou-se ainda que,
apesar do alto grau de degradação ambiental o
poder público municipal ainda não possui uma
política voltada para a defesa do meio ambiente,
conforme preceitua as legislações atualmente
em vigor, nem tampouco desenvolve ações
que visem à implementação de uma prática de
educação ambiental.

Abstract:
With the disorderly growth of cities, the pressure on water resources
becomes unavoidable, especially of streams that have their bed within the urban
zone. And as a consequence of the deforestation and construction of stilts serious
environmental changes some irreversible. The objective of this study is to analyze
the relationship between anthropic activities and the environmental degradation of
the Santa Barbara stream located in the municipality of Igarapé-Miri/PA. Driven by
concern and interest in understanding environmental issues more deeply, as well
as the visible degradation of the Santa Bárbara creek, it was decided to use the
qualitative approach, aiming at capturing the inhabitants’ perceptions of the most urgent
environmental problems, using as an instrument the application of questionnaire,
interviews and observations. The disordered way in which the occupation of the area to
the environment of the creek was carried out has great relevance in the understanding
aimed by this work. However, it is evident that, besides the form of occupation, there
is also, the total absence of the public power in the management and management of
urban issues. This made even more pronounced the pollution of the water component
and the degradation of the streams in the igarapé under study, resulting in a significant
decrease in the quality of life of the local population, besides a probably irreparable loss
of the ecosystem. It was also observed that, despite the high degree of environmental
degradation, the municipal public authority still does not have a policy focused on
environmental protection, in accordance with current legislation, nor does it develop
actions aimed at the implementation of a environmental education.
