Abstract: In recent years, heart failure (HF) treatment has improved, but advanced stages still have high mortality rates. Heart Transplantation (HTx) is the gold standard for Stage D HF, but faces challenges like donor shortages and logistics. Donation after circulatory death is emerging. We analyzed 16 years of HTx procedures in Rio de Janeiro, finding the highest hospitalizations and expenses in 2022. Mortality rate varied, with peaks in 2008 and 2009 and a low in 2018. An important highlight pertains to the year 2013, as there are no records of data in the categories of Mortality Rate and Deaths for this period. Many cases lacked records, hindering assessment and policy development. Addressing this issue is crucial for understanding HTx evolution and reducing mortality.
