AVALIAÇÃO DO PESO E ALTURA DE BEZERRAS EM UMA PROPRIEDADE RURAL DO MUNICÍPIO DE AUGUSTO PESTANA - RS
O presente capítulo teve como objetivo avaliar o peso e a altura de bezerras de uma propriedade rural e compará-los com as medidas indicadas pela literatura, afim de verificar se a propriedade estava ou não seguindo o manejo correto em relação a criação dos animais. Peso e altura dos animais foram aferidos e após realizou-se a média conforme a idade. Com base na análise realizada foram detectadas as falhas e acertos no manejo empregados na propriedade, com a intenção de efetivar melhorias no desenvolvimento das bezerras da Unidade de Produção Animal. Os resultados obtidos foram levados ao produtor e foram dadas orientações de como aumentar o ganho médio diário (GMD) dos animais, alimentação recomendada em cada fase de vida das bezerras, fornecimento de água e peso e altura ideais para cada faixa etária. Após o estudo, chegou-se à conclusão de que a propriedade atendia parcialmente as exigências nutricionais dos animais e que era necessário seguir as orientações fornecidas para atingir as medições ideias. Desta forma ressaltou-se a importância de efetivar periodicamente o acompanhamento do ganho de peso e altura com vistas a corrigir erros de manejo bem como a importância de uma assistência técnica agindo de forma preventiva e frequente junto ao produtor rural.

Abstract:
The objective of this chapter was to evaluate the weight and height of calves on a rural property and compare them with the measurements indicated in the literature, in order to verify whether the property was following the correct management in relation to animal husbandry. Weight and height of the animals were measured and then the average was performed according to age. Based on the analysis performed, the failures and management successes employed in the property were detected, with the intention of effecting improvements in the development of calves of the Animal Production Unit. The results were taken to the farmer and were given guidance on how to increase the average daily gain (GMD) of the animals, recommended feeding at each calf life stage, water supply and ideal weight and height for each age group. After the study, it was concluded that the property partially met the nutritional requirements of the animals and that it was necessary to follow the guidelines provided to achieve the ideal measurements. Thus, it was emphasized the importance of periodically monitoring the weight and height gain in order to correct management errors as well as the importance of technical assistance acting in a preventive and frequent manner with the rural producer.
