Abstract: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a method widely used in hospital institutions for diagnosis, staging and treatment control of various pathologies. This technique uses a magnetic field, therefore, it requires numerous precautions related to patient safety, to avoid accidents during the exam. In this context, it is important for the nursing team to carry out an accurate assessment. The objective was to describe the experience of evaluating the nursing team of a radiology service based on the application of pre-MRI exam questionnaires. This is an experience report on nursing assessment pre-MRI exams in a Radiology Service of a university hospital, carried out by the nursing team from March to June 2023. During the assessment, patients were questioned about the existence of metals, defibrillators, previous surgeries, existing treatments, firearm projectiles, tattoos, piercing, permanent makeup, dentures, vena cava filter, aneurysm clip, allergies and phobias. Fasting guidelines were also provided, as well as the need for the presence of a family member in specific cases. The patient's conditions for collaboration are also assessed, such as the feasibility of performing apnea, when necessary, and remaining still during the acquisitions. The pre-exam nursing assessment provides a safe and quality exam, ensuring patient and professional safety, as well as promoting a positive experience for the patient during the exam.
