AVALIAÇÃO DO CONHECIMENTO DOS PARTICIPANTES E DO IMPACTO DA ATUAÇÃO DE ESTUDANTES DO CURSO DE MEDICINA DO MODELO PBL EM UMA CAMPANHA DE TESTES RÁPIDOS DE HEPATITE B
Introdução: A hepatite B (HepB) constitui a segunda maior causa de óbitos entre as hepatites virais. A prevenção é realizada mediante vacinação e utilização de medidas de precaução. Nota-se o desconhecimento acerca de sua transmissibilidade e a possibilidade de complicações. O método de ensino problem based learn (PBL) é um método pedagógico centrado no aluno que, através da solução de problemas e do contato precoce com o paciente, aprende criando soluções para problemas. Objetivo: Avaliar o conhecimento dos participantes e o impacto da atuação de estudantes do curso de medicina do modelo PBL em uma campanha de testes rápidos para HepB. Metodologia: 131 voluntários participantes de uma campanha de rastreamento para Hep B foram avaliados ativamente pelos estudantes de medicina através de um questionário estruturado. Resultados: Os dados foram analisados descritivamente pela estatística. Dentre os participantes 55% foram mulheres. A média de idade foi de 51,68 anos. O nível de escolaridade mais encontrado foi ensino fundamental incompleto (38%). Os resultados também mostraram que 49% da amostra afirmaram nunca ter realizado o exame, já 62% não sabiam como a mesma é transmitida e 50% disseram não saber sobre a transmissão por atividade sexual, agulhas e seringas contaminadas. A respeito da vacinação, 63% alegam terem sido vacinados e 55% sabem que existe tratamento para a hepatite B. Conclusão: Constatou-se que o nível de conhecimento acerca de hepatite B ainda é escasso, o que evidencia a necessidade de implementar campanhas e medidas educativas que reforcem o conhecimento sobre a doença, além da amplificação do calendário vacinal, potencializando a sua cobertura. A atuação dos estudantes de medicina, precocemente inseridos na comunidade, demonstra possibilidade de modificar essa realidade.

Abstract:
Introduction: Hepatitis B (HepB) is the second leading cause of death among viral hepatitis. Prevention is achieved through vaccination and the use of precautionary measures. There is a lack of knowledge about its transmissibility and the possibility of complications. The problem based learn (PBL) teaching method is a student-centered pedagogical method that, through problem solving and early contact with the patient, learns by creating solutions to problems. Objective: To evaluate the knowledge of the participants and the impact of the performance of students of the medical course of the PBL model in a campaign of rapid tests for HepB. Methodology: 131 volunteers participating in a screening campaign for Hep B were actively evaluated by medical students through a structured questionnaire. Results: The data were analyzed descriptively by statistics. Among the participants, 55% were women. The average age was 51.68 years. The most found level of education was incomplete primary education (38%). The results also showed that 49% of the sample said they had never had the test, 62% did not know how it is transmitted and 50% said they did not know about transmission through sexual activity, contaminated needles and syringes. Regarding vaccination, 63% claim to have been vaccinated and 55% know that there is treatment for hepatitis B. Conclusion: It was found that the level of knowledge about hepatitis B is still scarce, which highlights the need to implement campaigns and educational measures that reinforce knowledge about the disease, in addition to expanding the vaccination calendar, enhancing its coverage. The performance of medical students, early inserted in the community, shows the possibility of changing this reality.
