Abstract: The theoretical-practical classes are important to the process of teaching and learning, because one complement each other. Didactic models made with inexpensive materials can be good tools to support the construction of student knowledge. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of an educational tool for the teaching of genetics and inheritance factors linked to sickle cell anemia with third-year students from regular high school in Parnaiba-PI. Questionnaires (pretest) and (posttest) after the theoretical-practical exposure were performed. The results revealed the model's positive contribution at the level of correct answers of students, 51.6% (pretest) to 65.6% (posttest). The teaching model has a great importance for improving student learning and must be applied combined with theoretical classes.
