AVALIAÇÃO DE ESPIRITUALIDADE E RELIGIOSIDADE EM ESTUDANTES DE MEDICINA DURANTE VIVÊNCIA DE CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS
Avaliar os entendimentos de religiosidade e espiritualidade em estudantes de medicina durante vivência em cuidados paliativos e verificar sua contribuição para prática profissional. Método: Estudo transversal com intervenção pedagógica (durante estágio curricular em serviço de cuidados paliativos de um hospital de Pernambuco, Brasil). Os dados foram coletados entre junho de 2015 a agosto de 2016, em dois momentos distintos (primeiro e último dia do estágio clínico). Utilizou-se instrumento com perguntas sobre concepções de religiosidade e espiritualidade e aplicou-se a Escala de Durel para identificar dimensões da religiosidade. A comparação do antes e depois foi realizada através do Teste Marginal homogene (Stuart-Maxwell). Resultados: Avaliaram-se 123 estudantes, sem exclusões. As características da prática clínica em espiritualidade “concordância com influência da espiritualidade na saúde”, “sentir-se seguro para abordagem”, “influência positiva ou negativa” e “motivos para desencorajamento” diferiram ao término do estágio (p<0,05). Quanto a religiosidade individual, 53% autodenominaram-se como católico apostólico romano. As dimensões religiosas “organizacional” e “intrínseca: esforço para viver a religiosidade na vida” diferiram ao término do estágio (p<0,05). Houve predomínio na indicação de uma disciplina obrigatória de espiritualidade. Conclusão: Respeitando-se as características religiosas individuais de cada estudante, existe oportunidade para desenvolver atitudes em prol do acolhimento das angústias espirituais dos pacientes, salientando que a vivência em cuidados paliativos gerou capacitações nos indivíduos envolvidos para atender estes anseios.

Abstract:
To evaluate the understanding of religiosity and spirituality among medical students during their experience in palliative care and to verify their contribution to professional practice. Method: Cross-sectional study with pedagogical intervention (during a curricular course in the palliative care service of a hospital in Pernambuco, Brazil). Data were collected between June 2015 and August 2016, at two distinct times (first and last day of the clinical stage). An instrument was used with questions about conceptions of religiosity and spirituality and the Durel Scale was applied to identify dimensions of religiosity. The before and after comparison was performed through the Homogeneous Marginal Test (Stuart-Maxwell). Results: A total of 123 students were evaluated, with no exclusions. The characteristics of clinical practice in spirituality "agreement with the influence of spirituality on health", "feel safe to approach", "positive or negative influence" and "reasons for discouragement" differed at the end of the stage (p <0.05) . As for individual religiosity, 53% self-styled themselves as Roman Catholic apostolic. The religious dimensions "organizational" and "intrinsic: effort to live the religiosity in life" differed at the end of the stage (p <0.05). There was a predominance of an obligatory discipline of spirituality. Conclusion: Respecting the individual religious characteristics of each student, there is an opportunity to develop attitudes towards the reception of patients' spiritual anxieties, emphasizing that the experience in palliative care has generated capacities in the individuals involved to attend to these anxieties.
