Abstract: The aims of this research is to evaluate, in the Sudoeste Mineiro, the agronomic performance of the main varieties of cowpea produced nowadays in Brazil. The experiment was developed in Passos during the summer harvest of 2021/2022. Ten commercial varieties of cowpea were evaluated in experimental outlines formed by randomized blocks with five repetitionsIt was verified that as short and erect were the branches of the varieties, more healthy and less bedridden were the plants. The BRS Nova Era, BRS Guariba, BRS Xique-Xique and BRS Tumucumaque varieties overcame all the other ones in terms of morphophysiological parameters. The most productive varieties were BRS Nova Era and BRS Guariba. For their turn, the varieties less indicated to the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Sudoeste Mineiro were BRS Imponente, BRS Rouxinol, BRS Cauamé, BRS Itaim, and BRS Marataoã.
