Abstract: This article reviews the use of biochar in small-scale farming, highlighting its effectiveness in improving soil quality and contributing to carbon sequestration. Analyses of recent studies show that biochar enhances nutrient retention, water storage capacity, and soil microbial activity. The review also identifies knowledge gaps and suggests future research on its application under different edaphoclimatic conditions. Biochar emerges as a sustainable solution to environmental challenges, promoting more efficient and eco-friendly agricultural practices.
