Abstract: Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are prevalent health problems, with modifiable risk factors, such as physical inactivity and overweight. SAH, characterized by high blood pressure, increases the risk of cardiovascular complications, while DM, marked by hyperglycemia, can lead to neurological, visual, and renal complications. This exploratory literature review study had as its main objective to analyze the benefits of physical activity for people with diabetes and hypertension, two chronic conditions that significantly affect global public health. Through the analysis of five articles selected from the Google Scholar database, the study highlighted the importance of physical activity as an effective non-pharmacological strategy in the prevention and treatment of these conditions. The results and discussions of the study revealed that the regular practice of physical activity, especially aerobic exercises and free time and work activities, is associated with a reduction in blood glucose and blood pressure. In addition, physical activity has been shown to be a protective factor against complications related to diabetes and hypertension, reducing the need for hospitalizations and promoting general well-being. However, the study also identified challenges, such as low adherence to exercise and the need for public policies that encourage an active lifestyle. The implementation of supervised exercise programs and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits are essential to maximize the benefits of physical activity on the health of the population. In conclusion, this study reinforces the importance of physical activity as a fundamental tool in the prevention and treatment of diabetes and hypertension. Regular exercise, combined with effective public policies, can significantly improve the quality of life of individuals with these conditions and reduce the costs associated with the treatment of complications.
