Abstract: This paper reviews the chemical, pharmacological and antimicrobial properties of Raphiodon echinus, a species belonging to the Lamiaceae family. The plant, native to the Brazilian caatinga, has a composition rich in phenolic compounds, such as caffeic and chlorogenic acids, in addition to sesquiterpenes, which give the species antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity. Studies highlight its potential in combating fungi of the genus Candida and multidrug-resistant bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The synergistic action between natural compounds and traditional antibiotics is presented as a promising strategy in combating microbial resistance. In addition, the toxicity of R. echinus was evaluated through assays with Artemia salina, indicating a safety profile for future therapeutic studies.
