• Abstract:

  The promotion and education

  in health are part of the attributions of health

  professionals. Guidance and pharmacological

  follow-up, in addition to a quality pharmacy

  service, contribute to high levels of health. The

  practice of the professional experience in a

  drugstore located in the metropolitan region of

  Recife had as main objective to know the duties

  of the pharmaceutical professional in the scope

  of pharmaceutical assistance and to develop

  skills and competences about this profession

  consolidating the learning in the academy.

  Activities such as blood pressure monitoring,

  blood glucose measurement, guidance on

  correct use of medication, prescription analysis,

  and pharmacological treatment with therapeutic

  optimization, management activities and training

  for employees integrated the experience of

  professional practice. In this way, the internship

  in the commercial pharmacy reconciled the

  theory with the practical experience in the

  service of pharmaceutical attention, besides

  the knowledge of the great variety of medicines,

  prescriptions and, pertinent legislations to

  pharmacies and drugstores.
