Abstract: This is a study aimed at examining the knowledge of family members regarding falls in the elderly and their preventive measures within households. A qualitative approach and an integrative literature review method were employed. Data collection involved a systematic search for scientific articles published in the last 10 years and available in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and the Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases. A total of 16 scientific articles were selected based on pre-established inclusion criteria. The discussion was organized into five categories that addressed the relationship between the aging process and the increased incidence of falls in the elderly. The study concludes that family, society, healthcare professionals, and administrators need to be aware and simultaneously equipped to better assist the elderly, particularly in terms of fall prevention. In this regard, state and municipal administrators can contribute to constructing and implementing a care framework for the elderly population. Within this proposal, care is planned and tailored according to the individual's needs, functional capacity, cultural, and social characteristics.
