ASSOCIAÇÃO ENTRE A SUCÇÃO DIGITAL E O DESMAME PRECOCE EM CRIANÇAS: REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA
Objetivo: Identificar as produções
científicas publicadas na literatura sobre
a associação entre a sucção digital com o
desmame precoce em crianças.
Métodos: revisão integrativa, realizada nas
bases de dados MEDLINE/PubMed, Scielo
e Scopus, em formulário avançado, sendo
considerados os descritores e termos livres
do Mesh Database “child OR children”,
“fingersucking OR thumbsucking” e “weaning”.
A coleta de dados foi realizada entre os meses
de agosto e setembro de 2018.
Resultados: Foram encontrados cinco estudos
que preencheram os critérios de inclusão.
Um deles foi realizado na Suécia e os demais
no Brasil. Apenas um estudo encontrou
associação estatisticamente significativa
entre o hábito de sucção digital com o
desmame precoce (p=0,0000), enquanto os
demais não comprovaram essa associação.
A maioria dos estudos não fez ajuste para as
variáveis confundidoras, nem realizou análise
multivariada.
Conclusões: Até o momento parece não
haver associação clara entre a sucção digital
e o desmame precoce. Sugere-se a realização
de mais pesquisas com essa temática,
especialmente os de delineamento longitudinal,
que estabelecerão melhor a relação de causaefeito
entre as variáveis de estudo, com controle
de vieses e análise estatística multivariada.

Abstract:
Objective: Identify the scientific
studies published in the literature on the
association between fingersucking and early
weaning in children.
Methods: integrative review, performed in
the MEDLINE / PubMed, Scielo and Scopus
databases, in an advanced form, being
considered the descriptors and free terms
of the Mesh database "child OR children",
"fingersucking OR thumbsucking" and
"weaning". Data collection was performed
between August and September 2018.
Results: Five studies were found that met the inclusion criteria. One of them was carried
out in Sweden and the others in Brazil. Only one study found a statistically significant
association between the digital sucking habit with early weaning (p = 0.0000), while the
others did not prove this association. Most of the studies did not adjust for confounding
variables, nor did multivariate analysis.
Conclusions: To date there seems to be no clear association between digital sucking
and early weaning. Further research with this theme, especially those with a longitudinal
design, is suggested, which will better establish the cause-effect relationship between
the study variables, with bias control and multivariate statistical analysis.
