ASSOCIAÇÃO DO HPV E O CÂNCER BUCAL
Descrever a associação do HPV na carcinogênese do câncer bucal e o seu papel na evolução desta doença. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica aonde foram pesquisados 40 artigos em bases nacionais e internacionais (Scielo e Pubmed) e inclusos 19 de relevância ao tema. Revisão de Literatura: O HPV possui 120 subtipos de vírus, sendo considerado o responsável pelo desenvolvimento de uma variedade de neoplasias malignas, entre elas em cavidade oral. Este vírus tem tropismo pelo tecido epitelial, de ordem genética e patogênese multifatorial, onde podemos apontar o tabagismo e alcoolismo, ou associa-la ao sexo orogenital. Outro fator é pelo DNA do HPV apresentarem uma modificação do padrão de expressão das proteínas controladoras do ciclo celular (p16 e p53), ligado ao programa de diferenciação celular da célula hospedeira. Conclusões: Não há consenso no real papel do HPV e a carcinogênese do câncer oral. Apesar da presença do vírus nestas neoplasias o seu papel ainda necessita ser elucidado.

Abstract:
Objective: To describe the association of HPV in oral cancer carcinogenesis and its role in the evolution of this disease. Methodology: It is a bibliographical review where 40 articles were searched in national and international databases (Scielo and Pubmed) and included 19 of relevance to the theme. Literature Review: HPV has 120 virus subtypes, being considered the responsible for the development of a variety of malignancies, among them in oral cavity. This virus has epithelial tissue tropism, of genetic order and multifactorial pathogenesis, where we can point out smoking and alcoholism, or associate it with orogenital sex. Another factor is that HPV DNA present a modification of the expression pattern of the cell cycle controlling proteins (p16 and p53), linked to the cell differentiation program of the host cell. Conclusions: There is no consensus on the real role of HPV and oral cancer carcinogenesis. Despite the presence of the virus in these neoplasias its role still needs to be elucidated.
