Abstract: This study has as its theme The Public Policies for Student Assistance are central, and the objective is to analyze the existing student assistance policies at the University of the State of Mato Grosso - UNEMAT, identifying which ones are practiced in the Distance Education Management Board - DEAD/UNEMAT, along with the course of Bachelor of Public Administration. This is a case study, with a Qualitative and quantitative descriptive approach, for which the production balance, document analysis and field research were adopted as methodological procedures. The questionnaire was chosen as an instrument for data collection, applied to the students completing the course. During the research it was found that the institution has 12 academic programs and a Student Assistance Program [PAE] composed of eight aids. Of this total, two programs and four aids are extended to DEAD/UNEMAT students, with a significantly low level of knowledge of the programs by the research subjects. It is concluded that UNEMAT has student assistance policies, however they are aimed at a specific 35 audience, those with proven socioeconomic vulnerability and without an employment relationship, which is not the case for most students participating in this study, as they develop some type of of paid activity.
