• Abstract: Introduction: Nipple trauma is a preponderant factor for early weaning, as it generates sensations of pain and significant discomfort for mothers in the postpartum period. Objective: Identify and describe the nature of nipple fissures, their causes and prevention from a nursing perspective. Methodology: This is an integrative review of the literature, with a qualitative study with a descriptive and exploratory approach. And the guiding question through the PEO strategy: "What are the benefits (O) of nursing interventions (E) in the treatment of nipple fissures in women in the postpartum period (P)?". Results: An inadequate latch can cause friction and trauma to the nipple, leading to fissures. Lack of adequate care or the use of irritating products can weaken the skin on the nipples. Inappropriate positions can place excessive pressure on the nipples, contributing to the development of fissures. Conclusion: The role of nursing is crucial in the prevention and treatment of these injuries.
