ASSENTAMENTO SÃO FRANCISCO: PRÁTICAS PRODUTIVAS E O DESENVOLVER SUSTENTÁVEL PARA O MUNICÍPIO DE JOSÉ DE FREITAS
A agricultura familiar é uma forma
de produção no campo que possibilita maiores
relações com a terra, integra homem e meio e
é responsável pela produção da maior parte do
que é consumido pelo brasileiro, por integrar
produção e consumo. Segundo o censo
agropecuário (2006), este setor é responsável
por gerar cerca de 80% dos empregos no
campo brasileiro, embora apenas 20% das
terras serem pertencentes às famílias que se
dedicam a tal tipo de produção, o que revela
contradições na estrutura fundiária brasileira. A
agricultura familiar é uma atividade dependente
da natureza, e a qualidade de vida está
atrelada à forma como o trabalho é realizado
e como se relaciona com a natureza. O artigo
se norteia a partir da análise do papel da
agricultura familiar, das práticas produtivas
e da relação entre a agricultura familiar e o
desenvolvimento sustentável, observando
as famílias do Assentamento São Francisco,
em José de Freitas (PI), esta relacionada à
produção sustentável e à introdução de novos
conhecimentos no campo a fim de resultar em
melhorias na condição da vida dos agricultores
e na qualidade dos alimentos.

Abstract:
Family farming is countryside way
of production that improves the relationship
between the man and the land. It also integrates
man and environment and is responsible for
the production of most of what is consumed
by the Brazilian, for integrating production and
consumption. According to the agricultural
census (2006), this sector is responsible for
generating about 80% of jobs in the Brazilian
countryside, although only 20% of the land
is owned by families engaged in this type of
production, which reveals contradictions in
the land structure Brazilian Family farming is
a nature-dependent activity, and quality of life
is tied to how work is done and how it relates
to nature. The article is based on the analysis
of the role of family agriculture, productive
practices and the relationship between
family farming and sustainable development,
observing the families of the São Francisco
settlement in José de Freitas (PI), this is related
to sustainable production and the introduction of
new knowledge in the field in order to result in
improvements in the condition of farmers’ lives
and in the quality of food.
