Abstract: Abstract: Fungi are beings present in nature that have low virulence, occasionally capable of causing disease when the host's defenses are compromised. There are reports of an increased incidence of the disease in immunocompetent patients, however, oral manifestations are rare. A 5-year-old male patient was referred to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service for evaluation of a vegetative, sessile, vascularized lesion with granulomatous areas, without reports of systemic changes. The tomography showed associated mucous thickening in the maxillary sinuses and an area of bone erosion on the floor of the nasal cavity on the left side and then an incisional biopsy was performed, and the diagnosis of aspergillosis was confirmed. The patient was admitted and treated for 6 weeks with intravenous liposomal amphotericin B and oral voriconazole, achieving successful treatment and remission of the lesion. The patient is being monitored and remains asymptomatic and without clinical signs of the disease 3 months after hospital discharge. The authors emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and adequate selection of antifungal medication to achieve successful treatment.
