Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the socio-economic influence of yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis) production among family farmers in Guarapuava, Paraná, Brazil. Data were collected from secondary research sources, including yerba mate production data (cultivated/native) in Guarapuava and socio-economic aspects from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), as well as websites, articles, books, and interviews with family farmers. The findings revealed that yerba mate cultivation influences farmers' quality of life and the municipality's economy. Most interviewees were aged 40 and 60 years. Most farmers completed primary or secondary education. The surveyed farms average 11 hectares, with farmers earning 4-6 minimum wages annually. Yerba mate sales account for approximately 16.7% of household income, with price fluctuations and commercialization as primary challenges.
