Abstract: Somatic phraseologisms in Spanish reveal a profound connection between the human body and fundamental cultural values, demonstrating how the language employs somatic references to convey abstract concepts and character traits. These expressions are often associated with notions such as "courage," "bravery," and other essential qualities within the anthropological context. Words like cojones (testicles), hígado (liver), and riñones (kidneys) are widely used in metaphorical contexts to symbolize attributes such as moral strength, determination, and resilience. These phraseological units transcend mere physical description, encompassing psychological and emotional dimensions that reflect deeply rooted sociocultural values. The expressiveness and pragmatic weight of these phraseologisms are central elements for linguistic and cultural analysis. Within this framework, the human body is perceived as a central metaphor, enabling the exploration of interactions between the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. Thus, somatic phraseologisms emerge as valuable linguistic tools for understanding the cultural and identity constructions of Spanish-speaking communities, reinforcing the intrinsic link between language and culture.
