ASPECTOS DE TRILHAS FÍSICAS DA FORMIGA CORTADEIRA ATTA SEXDENS RUBROPILOSA FOREL, 1908 (HYMENOPTERA: FORMICIDAE)
O forrageamento executado pelas
formigas cortadeiras envolve a seleção, corte
e transporte do material vegetal para o ninho.
Parte desse processo se deve as trilhas físicas e
químicas que permitem às formigas percorrerem
longas distancias em busca de varias espécies
vegetais para o cultivo do fungo simbionte.Com
o intuito de estudar as trilhas de forrageamento
de A. sexdens rubropilosa em sauveiros
foram escolhidos seis ninhos com diferentes
idades e estruturas externas, compreendendo
os parâmetros de comprimento, largura,
compactação e a presença de bifurcações
ou ramais nas trilhas de forrageamento. Os
sauveiros com trilhas secundárias variaram de
15,60 a 1,80 metros para distância do olheiro
principal, para comprimento variaram de
5,10 a 4,30 metros. Para largura das trilhas,
independente do número de trilhas, este foi o
único parâmetro não teve grande variação,
ficando sempre em valores mínimos de 6 e
máximo de 12 centímetros.

Abstract:
The foreging done by cutting ants
involves selecting, cutting and transport of plant
material to the nest. Part of these processs is
due to the physical and chemical tracks that
allow ants to travel long distances in search
of various plant species for cultivation of the
symbiont fungus. In order to study the tracks of
foraging in the leaf cutter nest were chosen three
nests with diferent ages and external structures
comprising the parameters of length, width,
compression, and the presence of “extensions”
in foraging tracks. The leaf cutting ants nests
tracks with secondary trails ranged from 15.60 to
1.80 meters to the main distance scout to length
ranging from 5.10 to 4.30 meters. For width of
the tracks, regardless of the number of tracks,
this was the only parameter had little variation,
always getting to a minimum of 6 and maximum
of 12 centimeters.
