AS TECNOLOGIAS DA INFORMAÇÃO NO CONTEXTO DAS CULTURAS POULARES: UM PROCESSO DE DEMOCRATIZAÇÃO OU DE ALIENAÇÃO?
Pretende-se uma análise das relações das culturas populares subalternas com as novas tecnologias da informação e da comunicação (TICs). O trabalho traz reflexões teóricas sobre a forma comunicativa específica dessas culturas subalternas, tendo em vista que as TICs trazem em si a ideologia das estruturas do poder hegemônico. Dada a característica contra-hegemônica das culturas populares, questiona-se a aparente democratização proporcionada pelas TICs. Para isso, analisa-se o fenômeno da sociedade midiatizada e a questão da popularização digital, investigando a forma dual de associação das TICs com as culturas populares e o turismo: as novas tecnologias podem proporcionar emancipação ou alienação.

Abstract:
This article intends to analyze the relations btween popular subaltern cultures and the new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The work brings theoretical reflections on the specific communicative form of these subordinate cultures, considering that the ICTs bring, in themselves, the ideology of the structures of hegemonic power. Given the counter-hegemonic characteristic of popular cultures, the apparent democratization provided by ICTs is questioned, since, in ideological terms, they are located in opposite field. This way, the phenomenon of mediatized society and the issue of digital popularization are analyzed, investigating the dual form of association of ICTs with popular cultures and tourism: new technologies can provide an emancipatory or alienating character.
