Abstract: This article aims to present an analysis of students' perspectives on school projects in the new high school curriculum, specifically from an elective course titled "step by step on school projects for the new high school." this course focused on students' areas of interest, including sociocultural, socioemotional, entrepreneurship, and socio-environmental topics, all geared toward the applied social and human sciences, aligning with the objectives of the current BNCC (brazilian national common curricular base). the research was conducted in the computer lab of the state school, located in the municipality of Santana in the state of Amapá, Brazil. It was a quasi-experimental study with a quantitative approach, using a closed-ended questionnaire administered to 54 students who participated in the workshop. the study was guided by dewey's philosophy of learning through experience and ausubel's concept of meaningful learning. the analysis of the results revealed positive acceptance: 74% of the students in the pre-test questionnaire considered the methodology of school projects in students' areas of interest important for learning. this was confirmed in the post-test questionnaire, where 69% of the students found it interesting to work on school projects in their areas of interest for learning. as a final result, the students took the lead in developing eighteen school projects according to their areas of interest.
