AS FUNÇÕES DA UNIVERSIDADE - ENSINO, PESQUISA E EXTENSÃO
O tema deste artigo compreende
a universidade à luz das suas funções
constitucionais de ensino, pesquisa e extensão.
Sob essa perspectiva, a extensão se constitui
como um instrumento construtivo e formativo,
que prima pela qualidade da educação
superior no País. Entrementes, constitui-se
estratégia de gestão, voltada para a produção,
armazenamento e compartilhamento do
conhecimento, suplantando o paradigma
de se resumiria à prestação de serviços à
comunidade. A ideia inerente a essa perspectiva
de compreensão é a de que o ensino e a
pesquisa devem ter uma significação social,
devem ter pertinência, ou seja, necessitam
estar enraizadas no terreno das aspirações e
contradições públicas. Para que tal objetivo seja
alcançado, faz-se mister que ensino, pesquisa
e extensão interajam profundamente, não
operando separadamente, porquanto, destarte,
produzirão ocorrências socialmente relevantes.
A par disso, ao se articularem, em verídica
produção conjunta, uma função alimenta a
outra e pela outra é alimentada.

Abstract:
The theme of this article covers
the university in the light of its constitutional
functions of teaching, research and extension.
From this perspective, the extension is
constituted as a constructive and training tool,
that excels in quality of higher education in the
country. Meanwhile, it constitutes management
strategy, focused on production, storage and
sharing of knowledge, overcoming the paradigm
of summarizing the provision of services to the
community. The idea inherent in this perspective
is the understanding that teaching and research
should have a social significance, must be
relevant, i.e., need to be rooted in the realm of
public aspirations and contradictions. For this
objective to be achieved, it is necessary that teaching, research and extension interact
deeply, not operating separately because, thus, they will produce socially relevant
occurrences. In addition, as they articulate, in true joint production, functions feed each
other.
