Abstract: This article aims to address the expansion of the Roman Empire, as well as the forms of organization and construction of cities, linking them to the development of societies dominated under the influence of this expansionist process. Thus, the Roman Empire expanded, perceiving the city as the essence of a common form of life, becoming an environment conducive to the conception of a community. The objective of this work is to analyze the concepts of the city and citizenship, considering the Roman influence in emerging cities and especially the issues surrounding the practice of slavery. Therefore, the political role of cities in the formation of this great Empire stands out and, due to it, it is necessary to reflect on the construction of cities, citizenship and slavery according to a social and economic perspective in Ancient Rome . To this end, historians Pierre Grimal (1988), Fábio Duarte Joly (2017), Norberto Luiz Guarinello (2020), among other authors, are used as theoretical support.
