ARTE E IDEOLOGIA NO CEMITÉRIO DE SANTO AMARO: O JAZIGO-CAPELA DE JOAQUIM NABUCO EM FOCO
Analisar o sentido do entrelaçamento entre arte funerária e ideologia em túmulos existentes nos cemitérios secularizados do Brasil, a partir do exame de um túmulo singular, edificado no Cemitério de Santo Amaro, Recife-PE, é o objetivo deste artigo. Trata-se do jazigo-capela de Joaquim Aurélio Barreto Nabuco de Araújo (1849-1910), pernambucano reconhecido por seus méritos como ator social do Brasil imperial e dos primeiros anos de república, sobretudo por seu engajamento na luta não somente da abolição, mas também de inclusão social dos libertos. A fim de atingir o objetivo proposto, fundamentamos a argumentação analítica, sem prejuízo de outros autores, em Maria Elizia Borges (2002; 2014) e Harry Rodrigues Bellomo (2008) e os estudos sobre arte funerária no Brasil engendrados por ambos.

Abstract:
To analyze the meaning of the interweaving between funerary art and ideology in existing tombs in the secularized cemeteries of Brazil, from the examination of a singular tomb, built in the Cemetery of Santo Amaro, Recife-PE, is the proposal of the article. This is the tomb-chapel of Joaquim Aurélio Barreto Nabuco de Araújo (1849-1910), recognized by Pernambuco for his merits as social actor in imperial Brazil and the first years of republic, especially for his commitment to the struggle not only for abolition, but also for social inclusion two freedmen. To achieve the proposed objective, we base the analytical argument, without prejudice to other authors, in Maria Elizia Borges (2002; 2014) and Harry Rodrigues Bellomo (2008) and the studies on funerary art in Brazil engendered by both.
