ARQUITETURA E DOCUMENTAÇÃO: Primeiras ações no Acervo Baumgart
O artigo trata da fase inicial do trabalho no Acervo Baumgart: identificação e catalogação de plantas e documentos relativos aos projetos de estrutura realizados pelo Escriptório Technico Emílio H. Baumgart e pela empresa que o sucedeu – a Serviços de Engenharia Emilio Baumgart Ltda. (SEEBLA), realizadas pelo Grupo de pesquisa Arquitetura e Concepção Estrutural – Diálogos no Acervo Baumgart da Escola de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade Federal Fluminense (EAU - UFF). Apresenta-se a origem do Acervo e sua trajetória, a importância das inovações propostas por Baumgart para o surgimento da Arquitetura Moderna no Brasil, o potencial do Acervo para a Pesquisa e para o conhecimento da Arquitetura do século XX e, por fim, a metodologia empregada e o processo de trabalho realizado no Núcleo de Pesquisa e Documentação (NPD) da Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), onde está depositado o Acervo. Levando em conta sua dimensão, o percentual realizado ainda é pequeno, mas já indica sua diversidade e possibilidade em contribuir para o aprofundamento do conhecimento sobre a Arquitetura brasileira do século XX, bem como sobre o importância das inovações no campo da Engenharia para a materialização dos anseios estéticos e artísticos dos arquitetos do período.

Abstract:
The article deals with the initial phase of work in the Baumgart Collection: identification and cataloging of plants and documents related to the structural projects carried out by Escriptório Technico Emílio H. Baumgart and the company that succeeded it - Serviços de Engenharia Emilio Baumgart Ltda. (SEEBLA), carried out by the Research Group Architecture and Structural Design - Dialogues in the Baumgart Collection of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal Fluminense University (EAU - UFF). The origin of the Collection and its trajectory are presented, the importance of the innovations proposed by Baumgart for the emergence of Modern Architecture in Brazil, the potential of the Collection for Research and for the knowledge of 20th century Architecture and, finally, the methodology employed and the work process carried out at the Research and Documentation Center (NPD) of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where the Collection is deposited. Taking into account its size, the percentage achieved is still small, but it already indicates its diversity and the possibility of contributing to the deepening of knowledge about Brazilian architecture in the 20th century, as well as about the importance of innovations in the field of Engineering for the materialization of aesthetic and artistic desires of the architects of the period.
