Abstract: Tilapia fish farming plays a major role in Brazil’s aquaculture and ranks as the second most produced fish species in the world. The computerized system for supporting Best Management Practices (BMP) and environmental management in aquaculture, “Aquisys version 1.3”, is an information and communication technology (ICT) developed, validated and, in 2015, launched by Apta/SAA-SP and Embrapa, focusing on tilapia production in fish ponds. A new version of this technology is under development, also by Apta/SAA-SP and Embrapa, under the BRSAqua Project, to incorporate two new production systems of national interest. One of these production systems addresses tilapia in net cages (TNC) and it was presented in 2021 as a prototype version namely “Aquisys BRSAqua v.2.1”. In this version, the system provides the estimates and evaluations necessary for monitoring TNC production system in the context of environmental sustainability (ecological, economic, and social) based on the user´s input data. The outcomes derived from these input data are important for producers who serve as managers and decision makers of their properties. The profitability of fish farming is crucial for maintaining this activity; therefore, technical and economic indicators were incorporated into this system. This work presents the assessment of economic feasibility of tilapia net cage production system through indicators selected, updated, and incorporated into “Aquisys BRSAqua version 2.1” via an interconnected set of electronic spreadsheets represented by a computerized procedure.
