Abstract: Scholars and researchers work with the scenario that the teaching of science based on investigation enables the honing of students' cognitive skills, helping them to understand the functionality and nature of scientific work. For this teaching-learning context, it is necessary to correlate the student's everyday world with academic knowledge. Global warming is an issue within which the human contribution to an increase in the Earth's average temperature is no longer discussed, but the resolution of this problem. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and the UN (United Nations) warn that there is urgency for this issue that impacts the climate, biodiversity, the economy and society as a whole. Given the importance of approaching the theme Global Warming, the present work proposed an investigation of the learning of the mentioned theme, through the analysis of a didactic sequence in a municipal public school in São Luís. The research was developed through qualitative investigation, through a case study, applying questionnaires; lecture on the mentioned topic and application of experiments in two of the three groups of students, followed by reapplication of the questionnaire. The research allowed us to conclude that learning was more significant for students who participated in the investigative activity without a pre-established experimental script.
