Abstract: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a disease that is directly associated with sleep phases, more precisely in the REM phase as a result of the predisposition to upper airway obstruction pertinent to its continuous collapse, whether partial or total, throughout sleep. Such events reflect cerebrovascular, pulmonary and cardiovascular pathophysiological changes. Therefore, reports of recurrent changes during sleep should be investigated for immediate initiation of treatment through combined therapies for a better quality of life for those with the disease.
