Abstract: The ICESAT-2 satellite has an altimetric system that allows surface estimations. This system has a LIDAR in the 532 nanometer band that allows estimating the height of surfaces such as icebergs, vegetation and also the height of water surfaces. While photons emitted with low energy allow estimates of the height of a water surface, higher energy photons allow estimates of the bathymetry of these surfaces. In this study, the ICESAT-2 data were applied to the Lagoa da Conceição region, located on Santa Catarina Island. The results showed that these data allow estimating these surface heights and bathymetry for the particular days where the satellite had its orbit over the study region. In particular, it allowed the evaluation of regions having deeper and lower levels of the lagoon. The results show that this tool can be an important option for monitoring the lagoon and its possible changes due to extreme meteorological events and trends.
