• Abstract: This study explores requirements engineering and software development, emphasizing requirements elicitation as a vital step in building high-quality systems. The research is motivated by the need to enhance elicitation methods to improve communication among stakeholders and ensure a clear, comprehensive understanding of software requirements. Common challenges such as communication breakdowns, lack of clarity, and resistance to change were identified, all of which can negatively impact software quality, causing delays and increased costs. The primary objective was to investigate the feasibility of using mind maps as a support tool for requirements elicitation. The study involved defining the target audience, designing and distributing an online questionnaire, conducting the research, and analyzing the results to uncover key challenges and benefits of employing mind maps in software projects. The findings deepen the understanding of current elicitation practices, highlight significant obstacles, and validate mind maps as a useful complementary tool. These insights can guide future research and improve elicitation processes in software development.
