Abstract: The global cosmetic industry is undergoing a paradigm shift, driven by the demand for sustainable, safe, and multifunctional products. This chapter explores the convergence between biotechnology and natural biodiversity as a response to this scenario, focusing on the development of advanced dermocosmetic formulations. It addresses the physiology of the skin barrier and the challenges of hydration and aging, highlighting the role of functional biopolymers. Levan, a microbial exopolysaccharide produced by Bacillus subtilis natto, is presented as a high value-added active ingredient, capable of promoting intense hydration, antioxidant action, and the formation of a biocompatible protective film. In synergy, the incorporation of lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) and copaiba (Copaifera officinalis) essential oils is discussed, whose bioactive compounds, citral and β-caryophyllene, confer antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The chapter demonstrates that the association of these natural actives surpasses the performance of traditional synthetic ingredients, offering effective therapeutic solutions for the maintenance of skin health and homeostasis.
