APLICAÇÃO DA INTERMITÊNCIA NO PROCESSO DE SECAGEM DE MATERIAL PARTICULADO EM LEITO DE JORRO
O objetivo deste capítulo é
apresentar, de forma introdutória, os principais
conceitos envolvidos na secagem intermitente,
visando sua aplicação no leito de jorro.
Deste modo, um estudo de caso de secagem
intermitente de alumina em leito de jorro com
enfoque energético é apresentado. No processo
apresentado, a intermitência foi implementada
com reduções periódicas da vazão de ar
para valores menores que o mínimo jorro em
intervalos de 10 e 5 min. Os resultados obtidos
evidenciam o potencial energético da aplicação
da intermitência no leito de jorro.

Abstract:
The purpose of this chapter is
to introduce the main concepts involved in
the intermittent drying aiming the spouted bed
application. So, a case study of the intermittent
drying of alumina in a spouted bed is presented.
The intermittency was implemented by periodic
reductions of air flow to values lower than
minimum spouting at intervals of 10 and 5 min.
Results obtained show the energy potential of
intermittency in the spouted bed.
